My DLI was June 2014 I applied for both SSI and SSDI,(at the behest of my attorney), in January of 2015. I was just wondering if my denial of SSDI meant also that my SSI was denied. I may not have the requisite recent work history\income for the SSDI since for almost 2 years out of the prior 10 I was working minimum wage at less than 40 hours a week. and 4 out of those 10 years I was living outside the U.S... I can call my attorney on Monday, I was just hoping to get some insight before then... maybe help me sleep better over the weekend LOL. Thanks for your reply.

It sounds like you don;t have enough work credits for SSDI. Being approved for SSI does not mean you are eligible for monthly SSI benefits. It will depend on if you have little or not income if you are eligible for SSI. You also can;t have more than $2,000 in resources if you arre single. If you are married and living with your spouse, their income and resources are counted against monthly SSI benefits,

Please do update us, I applies march 3rd and applied for both SSI and SSDI . I was denied for SSI but my SSDI says a desicion has been made and we are reviewing your application . A ss rep will contact you if any further info is needed. Somethi g like this. I am just wondering if i was approved or denied

Sorry for no update... As you can imagine after my denial I was somewhat aggravated and not very fun to talk to.
My case was denied... Even though the same papers received with my denial clearly stated that every single Dr. that SS sent me to clearly stated that my symptoms were consistent with the progression of my disease. The "Judge" arbitrarily decided and stated in the documents that he did not believe that my symptoms were as bad as I claimed... This based upon my lack of medical treatment... Treatment which requires MONEY to get... Money, one of the things that I do not have since I was not working for over a year... I live in a town without ANY public transportation other than Taxi's...which for some reason always want money.... There are no free clinics... The judge questioned me as to "why" I moved back to Missouri from Minnesota,(where I had free health insurance)... He apparently does not have the mental capacity to comprehend the fact that in Mn I was living out in the woods in an old cabin...without electricity, gas indoor plumbing or running water... My only heat was an old wood cook stove and my water came from a pond near the cabin... It was a 4 mile trek to the mailbox,(2 miles each direction...in winter...in northern Minnesota...) which took me almost an entire MN winter day to make the trip. So, when my brother offered for me to come stay with him in Missouri...I acquiesced...
This "judge" apparently feels that his "medical expertise" out qualified all of training and degrees of the SS doctors... I hope and pray that this judge gets some HORRIBLE and INCURABLE disease and suffers...intensely for a number of years. I would pay money to watch that.

Lala8282, the medical criteria for SSI and SSDI are the same.

Edmire, The ALJ has to go on medical and non medical evidence. Then he has to apply SSa Law to it.

Have you gotten copies of all of your medical records and read them ? Have you talked to your doctors about not being able to do Activities Of Daily Living or having to have help doing them ? Did your doctors write that info in your medical records ? Did the person that helps you fill out a Third Party form ?
