Sjogren's Syndrome Support Group
Sjogren's syndrome is an autoimmune disorder in which immune cells attack and destroy the exocrine glands that produce tears and saliva. It also associated with rheumatic disorders such as rheumatoid arthritis, and it is rheumatoid factor positive in 90 percent of cases.
Several people on different AI boards have said that the echinicia makes them more sick. Supposedly because the echinicia helps your WBC's fight infection. Now since people with AI disorders already have a problem with WBC's attacking their actual body even when no infection is present it would only make logical sense that echincia is more of a problem than a solution.
From now on I plan to stick with the vitamin D, multi-vitamin, plain Robitussin, and good old fashioned Vicks Rub. It is interesting to know that it can mess with your test results though. You would think that more physicians would get with the program and start doing research on herbs/vitamins/supplements. I have only had a few doctors ask me about my supplement use. Most act like they coud care less about the massive amount of supplements I take. These have been ordered for me by my fibromyalgia doctor and they are really working! Thanks again!
Since our bodies think that our moisture producing glands are invaders, taking echineacia will not only help our bodies fight infections but our glands and joints as well. Before we start taking meds to surpress our immune system we are major fatigued from our bodies non stop fight against ourselves.
I used to take Echineacia to help strengthen my system to fight colds, respiratory infections and stress. Taking E with Goldenseal when I had an infection added Goldenseal/s ability as a natural antibiotic to help cure whaat ailled me.
I'm not really sure if there's anything we can do to fight colds and such except to try to prevent them in the first place. That means was your hands and wipe down all surfaces in your home or workplace with a mix of Bleach and water to kill germs - that's what they use in preschools around here. I ban sick people from my home, short of wearing a mask I don't know what else to do.
By the way, I don't use antibiotic hand soap because that also kills all the little common bugs that is causing our kids to get weird rashes and little coughs and sniffles. If we use regular soap and hot water, that mostly kills the bugs while allowing us to build an immunity toward them.
Good luck everyone,
