Yep its pretty sad. Perhaps the end of her career, I hope not.

There's a good interview with her on Good Morning America (on the website). Venus gave a good description of her symptoms, what she's been going through, and yet remained positive about the future. She did mention that it takes an average of 6 1/2 years for someone to get diagnosed and how relieved she is to finally have a Dx and know what's going on. A good interview, I thought. The press is scrambling to figure it out - saying lots of inaccurate stuff, but she's right on. I hope the press gets it right in awhile. Venus is a wonderful athlete and I hope she gets to play in some more games.

She has the resources to get top notch care; she will probably do well. This is sure to enlighten the public to Sjogrens. The radio said this was a "rare" disease. Not really; just rare to get a diagnosis. Average time 6.5 years.
Saw her interview; maybe she will be a spokes person for Sjogrens.

Although I do not want to see her have it, I hope this enlightens both the medical community and the public.

It is not that rare not with 4Million people having it, but you are right when you said it seems rare because of the length of time for diagnosis.

Everything happens for a reason. Maybe Venus is supposed to be the spokes person for Sjogren's and she will be heard.

My husband called from work to tell me about her diagnosis. I really hated to hear the only time I watched tennis was when she and her sister played. Hopefully she'll start to feel better soon and bring some attention to SS.

It is saddest when a young person is diagnosed. I hope that her situation will bring attention to and support for the research that is being conducted to find a cure. God bless Venus and everyone who is living with this condition.

It is a good thing that she has gone public with it, in that it is bringing attention to this little-known disease. It's all over the news! And it's a good resource to send our friends and family who do not comprehend what we suffer.

I had not heard, i don't read the paper or listen to much news. Celebrities do have a voice and seems people listen rather negative or positive. this will be a positive for us suffers. I am 58 and just diagonsis I really feel for the ones that are so young :( but there is hope.
