I am discovering that when I sleep I am tensing up until my hands are clentched. I wake up in the night miserable and in the morning so stiff and sore. I have difficulty walking when I first get up,joints and muscles. I find when I sit and try to relax I am uncomfortable and it feels like my body is rigid sort of. I just hurt. I am fearing it may be something more than sjs.

I have felt like that at times, but not all the time. Sometimes when I am walking my muscles tense up like they are going to cramp but don't. Sometimes I believe I have more problems with muscles, tendonitis, etc. than I actually have with joints. I do believe it can be from sjs, but your rhuemy would be the best person to talk to about it for sure. Hope you find some relief.

I have that happen too--also with my legs. Sometimes I have to consciously go through relaxation exercises in the middle of the night.

I have had this too but it comes and goes, some mornings I wake up with nail marks on my palms from clenching them so much. It also takes me a long time to relax my muscles and joints in the morning, I have trouble with my knees and hands most of the time. My dr, assured me that it is my sjs but I would let your dr, know of the knew symptoms. Hope you feel better soon.

I have sjs and "connective tissue " disease which my doctor has yet to define and I too get the tensing of the muscles although I also get cramp in my ankles and leg muscles too .I have woken up and found my hand clenched or my fingers curled and had to try and straighten them .It doesn't happen on a regular basis I just thought it may be part of the sjs ,interesting to know other people get that too though .

I have been clenching my jaw alot lately and noticing fatigue around that area. With the arthritis in your hands it would make sense that they would naturally make a fist. Try purposely laying them flat more and stretch them everyday. Prednisone really helps relax my hands when they get stiff. Its just all the inflammation there probably causing it and seems very likely it is the effects of sjs.
