I have it all the time on and off. Don't know if it is sjs related or not but I have had it for a long time now and really don't pay that much attention. Usually doesn't last that long.

I think I now have something called seborraic eczema in my ear and may also have tmj arthritis. All of this can cause ringing also.

Have you been to an ENT recently? Perhaps you should and have a hearing test. Is that your only symptom?

I have tinnitus and it never, ever stops. It's very hard to live with sometimes because I keep waiting for it to quit, but it doesn't. Not sure if it is related to SS, but plaquenil is a known drug that can make it worse. :(

I have been to an ENT and he did a hearing test after preliminary looks. Said tests indicate no hearing problem . No treatment or medicine for it. Said to avoid caffeine and chocolate! In the past it would start and last for a short period and stop for many months. Then recently it started again and commence for a day or so then stop and then begin again. Just wondering if others with SS have this experience. I have the Sicca version.

Hi! TMJ is arthritis in joints in the jaw. Very painful, so I hear. I have never had that, but I do get ringing in my ears! It is not horrible, just very weird. Sjogrens is secondary to my RA, but I guess I can still blame the SS.

Well they claim I have TMJ arthritis. If you open and close your jaw, put your fingers right in front and very close to your ear and you should feel that joint move as you open and close. That is the tmj joint. You can get arthritis in any joint. I am not saying I don't have it but I was having all my pain in my ear and none in my joint. They kept calling it referral pain. Something wasn't striking me right. Anyway, I did some research and discovered something called seborraic ecxema. Asked my primary about it and she said it could very well be since I had what looked like dry skin in my ear. I have constant ecxema problems so I just started using some of my prescription cortisone cream inside my ear and there has been some definite improvement. I can't believe an ENT couldn't figure this out. No wonder it hurt like the dickens when he tried to pull dry skin out and made me bleed because it wasn't dry skin at all. Lord help us.

Whenever my RA flairs, the ringing gets worse and const

I've had it steady now for years. It started when I had a bad ear and respiratory infection so half wonder if there wasn't some damage from that but then, it was intermittent. It has progressed to constant. Thankfully it tends to be in the "background" for me and only really noticeable when things are very quiet. Still, I have read that there is a connection between it and sjs as a common complaint.

I'm new , i have it constant but it gets louder for various reasons , like overload .. too much of anything or extra tired , more pain ect.
