Sjogren's syndrome is an autoimmune disorder in which immune cells attack and destroy the exocrine glands that produce tears and saliva. It also associated with rheumatic disorders such as rheumatoid arthritis, and it is rheumatoid factor positive in 90 percent of cases.
I have these, and they work wonderfully. The problem is they continue to fall out, every couple of weeks. Does anyone else have this problem? I keep going back to the eye doctor and he puts more in. If I sneeze, they are gone! They are so helpful, but I am hoping I do not have to continue to go every other week for another appt. for more plugs!

They can also cauterize the openings, if you want to get it done once & for all. I know some people who have used the same plugs for years, and then others who swore by the cauterization, so it's your choice.
I don't have the plugs myself, though I did try the temporaries & I couldn't tell any difference with them. I take Evoxac 3 times daily & I do feel more moisture taking them.
The plug I had in my Right eye came out twice. He replaced it with a smaller one each time, and that took care of it. Dunno why it would stay in place for a while, and then decide to drop out.
Hope you can get this resolved, so when you sneeze they don't fall out !! LOL

There are different types of punctal plugs out there, and if you go online, you can see what the different types look like. The ones I first had were looked like plastic and were stubby and looked like a small sty in my eyelid. The current ones that I have now look like wire and I can't even tell that they're there. I know that they're still there though because I just recently had my annual Plaquenil eye exam and my ophthalmologist saw that they're still intact.
