Sjogren's syndrome is an autoimmune disorder in which immune cells attack and destroy the exocrine glands that produce tears and saliva. It also associated with rheumatic disorders such as rheumatoid arthritis, and it is rheumatoid factor positive in 90 percent of cases.
Anyone antibody positive (anti-Ro, anti-La) and been pregnant? I understand there is a risk of congenital heart block and complications. Just wondering what others experiences have been. Thanks.
I am anti ro and la positive and i have a heathy nearly 3yr old. I didnt know about the sjogrens till i was 6 or 7weeks along so as u can imagine alot of my issues suddenly made sense but i was scared for mylil one. First of all i did smoke bout 3-5 cigs a day(save the lecture i know still bad but i really struggled with quiting). Anyways i live in a smaller area so i had to drive an hour away to see a high risk doc i had several ultra sounds to moneter his heart which was fine although my belly was nt gettin bigger either late second trimester or third and wen they did another ultra sound they found he hadnt been growin much i then had to go in twice a week for fetal monetoring which all was still good. Then when i had just over threeweeks to go i was workin when i went to the bathroom to pee. I went and realized i had bleed quite a bit(mind u i bleed off and on throught the whole pregnancy) more than the norm. I left work and went to local doc who did fetal monetering and checked for dialation and what nt which i wasnt and baby was good so they sent us on are way. I called my doc nxt day and went in they did the same and were gonna send me on my way way but i staydto have an ultra sound so i didnt have to come back( i was scheduled to be induced @ 39 weeks) and thats wen it got bad they then informed us he had stopped developing 3weeks prior and my placenta was already failing, we were sent home to schedule an induction as soon as they could get my in. The worse part be for we left i was told we can not garentee a live birth then all the possible things that could be wrong with are son comin earlier than expected including the possiblity he could end up in nic u so needless to say terrifyin. Wen i went to have him his heart rate crashed 3 times by then they had me on oxigen, an iv, and stuck on my side whatchin his heart rate follow my contractions. They broke my water wen iwas 3-4 centemeters dialated to place an innternal moneter which is wen they found he had a bm already. Once the internal moneter was placed theylost his heart rate all together, they then went back to an external moneter anfound his heart rate at 40 bpm so they finally took him emergency csection. Aside from a low heart rate and a lil jaundice he was unbelievably healthy he was only 4p 10 at birth but scored all 8-9 on the apgar! We had a few issues with milk and soy intolerants and gurd but out grew both and is a fairly healthy lil boy he is still a bit small only 27p and just gettin into 2t pants and he will be 3 august 1st lol. Anyways i think we were very lucky and if u are thinkin about it i would definatly talk to a doc. About risks first. Either way i hope this helps and good luck to u
