Sjogren's syndrome is an autoimmune disorder in which immune cells attack and destroy the exocrine glands that produce tears and saliva. It also associated with rheumatic disorders such as rheumatoid arthritis, and it is rheumatoid factor positive in 90 percent of cases.
I was just wondering how many of you are treated by your Primary Care Physician versus a rheumatologist!
I have been reading some posts on this site and it seems we all have problems with rheumatologists. After seeing mine for years now and him saying he can't believe I am still working full time, he is fighting putting me on disability!?!?!?!?! He has decided that I must have a functional ability test first to determine my ability to perform my job. In the mean time, I have been placed on leave by my employer for not being able to "perform my job to the minimum qualifications" and even with this knowledge, he still refuses to write me off so that I can collect on short term disability.
I am wondering if I shouldn't just fire him and go see my primary doctor!! Or go back to the previous rheumy who diagnosed SLE but who would shrug her shoulders each time I had a new complaint and say that "I was just a medical mystery". At least she had a good bedside manner and listened to me!! He may be very well trained and highly educated, but he doesn't listen, and more importantly, he doesn't see what is happening to me.....I am just another house payment to him!!

I guess it's different for everyone.
Sometimes I find that my GP is just really good for getting advice from. She doesn't have to write me a script or send a referral to specialist, but I can get advice about how to go about dealing with difficult doctors. Maybe you could speak to your GP about what he/she thinks you should do?
