I was having a difficult time finding relief from muscle and joint pain. I was taking morphine when I had really bad days. Now I am currently taking prednisone 5mg two tabs once a day and I take tramacet on days that the pain is very bad. I also just recieved a heating mattress that is awesome to relieve body aches and pains. Not sure if any of this will help you but good luck and keep smiling!!!

I can't take celebrex because of a sulfa allergy. I also can't take any antiinflammatory med because of my anemia. Antiinflammatories should help with the joint pain but not the muscle unless the muscles are referred pain from the joints. Are you dx with anything else like maybe fibromyalgia? I am on plaquenil, vit D, omega 3, and hydrocodone for pain. The plaquenil, vit d and omega 3 are helping. It took several months though before I noticed it. Best of luck to you.

I'm sorry to hear that your so uncomfortable. Most sjogies that I connect with take plaquenil and have had good results with it. It takes several weeks to kick in but I hear it works. Best to talk with your rheumy and see what they recommend.

I also have fibro and hypothyroidism so that adds to my pain. I take Meloxicam which is an arthritis pain med. and that works for me most days.

I hope you figure out what works for your as we're all different but still very similary symptoms, aches, and pains.

I take the plaquenil and take naproxen but I think 2 aleve does the same thing. At first the plaquenil seemed to help but the last few months I feel like my muscles are tensed up and aching. A very odd feeling and hard to explain. I just don't know. I did taper off the plaquenil and am tapering back on to see if that helps and honestly it is better but still not good. I love hydrocodone but that's why I don't take them...I could like them too much! Thanks for your input. Does anyone have fibrormyalgia? Is it auto- immune and does it normally folow sjogrens?

I have been taking Lyrica...only 100mg 2x/day and it helps a lot. I tried the Celebrex but it didn't help me. I also take oxycontin when it gets really bad but that is less and less lately.
I have just been diagnosed with stage III kidney disease which really was a shocker for me. Is that related in anyway or does any one know?

I have not taken Celebrex. It is an anti-inflammatory. A LOT of the symptoms I have had result from inflammation. I have been taking Naproxen 500 mg twice daily and it helps my joint pain. Recently I developed other symptoms like the all over aches, my shoulders and neck especially were hurting in the muscles, worsening of my insomnia, my restless legs were turning into full blown cramps that went all the way into my toes. I felt like I had been lifting hay bales all day. lol
I was seeing new rheumatologist because I had recently moved. He said my problem wasn't a case of a SS flare that wouldn't go away, I had fibromyalgia. He started me on Lyrica 75 mg twice daily. It made me a little dizzy and woozy for about a week, but I have been doing better since.
I had been taking Clonazepam for my restless legs and was changed to Mirapex. That seems to have helped too.

I was told I have fibro and lupus mseaton. I had the labs that showed active AI and then when prednisone helped me dr. confirmed lupus and fibro by the 18 pts. test.
Meloxicam made me very ill and since I have serious GI issues and anemia I couldn't take it.

Hi mseaton. My mother takes Celebrex for her RA. She has RA pretty bad in her fingers and hands and she said it doesn't hurt, so guess the Celebrex is working for that. I use Plaquenil, Lyrica and Tramadol, and that seems to get me through my days. Hope the med works for you if you decide to take it.

An alternative to pain meds and anti-inflamatories neurontin is an alternative. I take it for my leg pain and I have much less pain. It is for nerve pain but it works, I only take it at night because it make me tired so I was able to come off sleep meds and get rid of the leg pain. I won't take pain meds.

I don't know if you have ever tried Ultram (generic: Tramadol). It does help if you take enough. My prescription says I can take up to eight a day but I do not even come close to that. My Rhuemy told me it is not addictive but does affect the same area of the brain that narcotics do which is how you perceive your pain. Hope you feel better. I understand your pain
