MI Paste doesn't substitute for a toothpaste as it doesn't have the little abrasives in it that toothpaste has. But it's great for neutralizing the acids that eat away at teeth and for remineralizing teeth. I use it most days after brushing. Next time, get the MI Plus which also has fluoride and other minerals in it.

Another good product is the Biotene PBF (green label) mouthwash or toothpaste which has enzymes in it to prevent biofilm and plaque.

Thank you so much for clearing that up! I do use the Biotene products, ALL of them. And I intended to order the MI Plus, but I got the plain one. Can you tell if it has made a difference?

Yes, it has. Last year, I could tell my teeth were doing badly. I'd had a bunch of gumline fillings. The teeth didn't have that smooth, slippery feel, even after dental cleanings. Then I had to have a molar pulled because of too many fillings. So I started a new tooth care regime.

DryRDH (thank you!) posted a regimen for Sjs tooth care. The expense didn't matter; it was $900 to have my tooth pulled. So I now use an electric toothbrush, floss, hand-held Waterpik, Biotene PBF toothpaste, Biotene PBF mouthwash. I had the dentist make me some tooth trays, usually used for whitening, in which I put a little MI Plus paste or Prevident 5000 fluoride paste alternating, each once a week for an hour while working at my desk. Those two pastes especially made my teeth feel smooth and slippery again. I also don't usually eat refined sugar.

When I went to my dentist 6 months later, they said my mouth was great. The best Sjogrens teeth they'd ever seen - whatever that meant :) No cavities. My next visit comes up next month. I hope it's as good. I am determined to keep the rest of my teeth.

Thanks for the information! Yes, I first heard of the paste in a post a while back by Dry RDH is, but I didn't see how it was used. Using a tray s a good idea! I already have done everything else you mentioned, because, like you, I had some issues with decay and hated that dirty feeling my teeth always had. Now, my osteoporosis is worrying me because I'm sure my teeth are already losing enough of the minerals they need through SS. The osteoporosis makes it even worse.
