Sjogren's syndrome is an autoimmune disorder in which immune cells attack and destroy the exocrine glands that produce tears and saliva. It also associated with rheumatic disorders such as rheumatoid arthritis, and it is rheumatoid factor positive in 90 percent of cases.

I was recently dx with autoimmune hepatitis, at first they said it was just liver toxicity from the high dose of imuran, 250mg daily, I was hsopitalized and they discontinued that , I showed some improvement so I came home, and things have gone down hill, weak, fatigued, fevers, belly pain and nausea just like in the hospital, thats when the doctor told me it was autoimmune hepatitis. Anyone have issues with this? I have been having a rough go lately, one thing to another, I had my first TIA 1 month ago, and was in the hospital for that 4 days. I just want to be home with my kids and family, making the most of each day, and it seems I can do everything right, and this stuff still progresses.
thank you all for listening. I read that people with Sjogrens have a higher risk of autoimmune hepatitis. I also have Lupus (SLE)

Sweets, I\'m so sorry ur going thru this. I have sjogren\'s too and was just diagnosed with it a lil over a month ago. I just started the Imuran about 2 weeks ago. All the symptoms ur describing I have been having them daily on and off for the last 3 months. The next time I see my rhuem I am asking him if he has tested me for hepatitis even though I have all the vaccinations from when I was a kid. I also have several other complicated medical problems too. I know how frustrating it gets constantly going to doctors and being poked and prodded. My name is Rachel btw and I\'m here on DS everyday and would definately like to be your friend. So anytime u need to talk about anything or need support feel free to shoot me a message anytime. I also want u to know that I am praying for u to start feeling better and that the doctors can stop this hepatitis from spreading and get it and the sjogrens under control. my liver misbehaves from time to time. no fun. make sure you don;t take anything with tylenol in it. hugs and feel better, marilyn

Thank you both so much for responding. It is very overwhelming. My doc called last night, the first of all my labs where in, and I am severely anemic. Its a first for me, most likely from the SLE. I have been low, but never anywhere near these low red counts. they are very concerned and we will talk about it tomorrow. I will keep you posted, have a wonderful sunny day tomorrow!

I am so sorry to hear this. Once the winter before last the doctor's office called me to come in a get a script for more tests the doctor ordered. He thought I had autoimmune hepatitis. I was in a state panic wondering if I would be black balled from my job and friends. As it turned out, it didn't have it. I have a genetic flaw that stores iron in my body instead of eliminating it. Iron stores in the organs and can cause many problems. I had to have some blood drawn (plebotomy) to lower my iron levels.

My liver enzymes go up and down like a yo yo. I had a liver biopsy last year and thankfully it came back okay, except for the ANA's which I already knew about.

Point of my story is this: They told me they though I had this and it turns out that I didn't.

I'll keep my fingers, toes and eyes crossed hoping that the same may happen for you too.
