The anti-CCP test is about 95% accurate in giving your rheumy a clue that you may have RA. That along with symptoms such as swelling, morning stiffness > 1 hour and evidence of erosions on Xrays such as the hands will be part of the clinical diagnosis for RA.

Thanks for the reply. My anti-CCP test came back negative, so I suppose the joint pain I am experiencing is attributed to Sjogren's.

YES , but its really one in the same you just have less inflammation but enough to swell joints.
Get on plaquenil. I was borderline on my test it was high and sometimes passes the threshold then it will come back down inflammation seems to work that way. When one knee hurts the other will next its weird. I had elbows swell , knees, shoulders, hands , neck bother me , ankles , my feet ......it always switched sides too. Oh' even my jaw!
Plaquenil calmed all of it over months of use.
Flares are usually accompanied by high inflammation. mamawjo is correct , you need symptoms and x-rays , my doctor does x-rays every so often. I have one hip that been damaged but its not serious my hands are also a problem. Mine is also raynauds which was under control until the medication gave me severe migraines. I am now on a new drug for it but its not anywhere nearly as effective.
You need more than one blood test too. You also must be off all medication when you have that test because it can be skewed. But, if you are on meds like plaquenil you will flare if you go off it. double edge.

I saw a new rheumatologist for a second opinion last week, and he started me on Plaquenil without any hesitancy. I have been taking it for about a week now. I am excited to see if this will calm down the joint stiffness because I have heard great things of this drug.

Two more things:
When did the Plaquenil nausea go away or get tolerable for you?

I'm assuming the medication you are referring to for Raynaud's is a calcium channel blocker? My doc prescribed me nifedipine but I am nervous to start, so I have not taken it yet.

When I was first put on Plaquenil it also caused nausea for me. I take it 2x/day. My dr said I can take it at night to avoid that problem. I havnt had any more issues with nausea since I started taking both pills at night before bed.

You can try that...

Also, Plaquenil did make my joint pain better but not gone. I will still get it every once in awhile..but def alot better
