Sjogren's Syndrome Support Group
Sjogren's syndrome is an autoimmune disorder in which immune cells attack and destroy the exocrine glands that produce tears and saliva. It also associated with rheumatic disorders such as rheumatoid arthritis, and it is rheumatoid factor positive in 90 percent of cases.
Some people never get really bad symptoms while others suffer endlessly. I once did some research on the "Marshall Protocol". I never followed up and don't know where it stands today, but you may want to do some research on that. I believe it is a long treatment plan and think it was believed to be able to cure sjs.
Good luck.
By 45, some intermittent joint pain. Fatigue set in.
Now, no joint pain, but fatigue getting more severe. Need to take "nap" everyday in the late afternoon/early evening, then get second wind. No dryness (eyes slightly dry--need eye drops in morning and at bedtime.).
I know my symptom are slight compared to others, but this fatigue is really bothering me! I used to go to the gym 2-3 times a week; now only once a month, because I'm so tired after work.
I have a good rheumy doc. My symptoms were not severe enough to take any meds, although the doc did offer Plaquenil if I want it. I'm afraid it'd irritate my stomach since I have a very sensitive stomach. I am considering taking it now.
I was hoping that since my symptoms are slight, that maybe with a less stressful lifestyle, the sjs will go away.
Thanks for the info on the "Marshall Protocol". I will look it up.
Not sure about this either, but I think it helps people more with joint pain, etc. than with fatigue but I may be wrong about that. I know the fatigue can be horrid like nothing else I have ever felt.
Give the plaquenil a shot - it may help you.
