Hmmm, I know that yeast is a common problem with auto-immune conditions but that doesn't make sense to me, dandruff shampoo isn't anti-fungal is it? I know that the dandruff shampoo works for eczema. Skin pigment changes also occur with medications as well as auto-immune issues. So could very well be sjogren's related.

Did the doctor do a biopsy to see if it was fungal? A simple scraping the skin without cutting would all you would need to see if it is fungal. I think that if it is on the skin you are likely to have it other places in your body. Does it itch? I personally would opt for the medications either topical anti-fungals or diflucan. Fungals usually clear quickly without prolonged treatment. Are you on prednisone? It is known to cause yeast/fungal issues. I don't like the wait and see method since for me everything always gets worse and just prolongs the problem.

I know that vinegar will also kill fungal skin issues. Just put some on a cloth or cottonball and wipe the affected area.

Thanksjltraaw. My dr showed me a text book on fungal infections with a photo of exactly what is on my back & that was the treatment. I am using selsun treatment shampoo ehich is thick & I keep it on for 15 mins then shower. It does'nt itch ti is just there. I have a long standing infection under my big toenail which I treat with teatree oil. I have taken diflucan but it did'nt help. I will use the shampoo for two weeka & go back if it has'nt cleared up.
I will try the vinegar too. Thanks for the information.

Several years ago I was on 50mg of diflucan for 30 days due to recurrent yeast issues and haven't had yeast issues since. My stomach wasn't happy but it was well worth it.

Thanks for you comments. The selsun shampoo treatment has actually got instructions on the bottle how to use for fungal skin infections. I am not on prednisone at the moment but thinking about it, the infection would have started when I was on it.
So many things to think about!
