Sjogren's Syndrome Support Group
Sjogren's syndrome is an autoimmune disorder in which immune cells attack and destroy the exocrine glands that produce tears and saliva. It also associated with rheumatic disorders such as rheumatoid arthritis, and it is rheumatoid factor positive in 90 percent of cases.
The lemon does increase saliva. I drink sips of lemon water all day and it helps. I like pears but not everyday and only eat the walnuts when I think of it.
I notice that when I do eat well, I feel overall better.
I'm glad to hear about the lemon juice.... that makes sense....

I drink lots of water all day long. Also helps from getting urinary tract stones. I gave up my diet coke, Rhumatologist said was bad for me. I drink an occassional 7-up or Sierra Mist. So my pop supply lasts a long time. I eat pretty much of every thing I want to. Sjogrens affects each of us differently. That's why it's nice to share what works and what doesn't.
Hang in there,

I love to cook and bake and of course eat, but I've just started the change of diet and I'm feeling good about it. Everyone is different but for me I really notice the difference with food.
I also have chronic hives always in the same place, anyone else have hives. (I know they are connected to autoimmune disorders)
I have Graves disease as well (in remission)
I'm not taking any prescription meds. Did not like the ones I tried, they had unacceptable side affects.
Wishing you all improved health :)
