Yes, hypothyroidism can cause your body temperature to be lower than normal-- causing you to feel cold all the time. But Raynauds is a separate issue that can come on it's own or accompany autoimmune disorders. Your extremeties are affected-- fingers, toes, and yes, your nose.
The color doesn't have to be blue or purple to be Raynauds. It can be white or sometimes mine flares with barely a color difference.
I don't know why a doctor would tell you that Raynauds is dictated by a malfunctioning thyroid. More than likely, you are at the beginning stages of Raynauds.
