Six Day Diet Community Group
This is a diet support group for people with chronic conditions due to which dieting is the primary method for weight loss and maintenance. The goal of this diet plan is to reduce weight to normal by healthy means while supporting our immune systems to fight off the illness. 6 day plan consists of following diet and having 1 meal's worth of whatever we want on Sunday.
I know that I can be really good for weeks, but if I have one piece of candy or one cookie, or one brownie, I can go into a 3 day (or longer) binge. For months now, I have remained under 140 lbs., now I am at 135, and hope to get down to 130 and stay there. I feel so much better when my food is in control. My arthritis feels better, I don't feel bloated, my A1c stays good. So I can use the support as much as anyone, even though I am doing well right now. Thanks for starting this group.
I m so happy that you are here. Would love to hear more about how you did it.
1. I only eat three meals a day and 1 snack. If I am really hungry in the evening, I will have a bag of microwave popcorn, oh, I'd say 2 or 3 times a week. Otherwise, I have a 3:00 pm snack of fruit.
2. I drink water, iced tea, hot tea, coffee or seltzer water. No sodas, even diet. I just drink whenever I want.
3. I eat 2 fruits a day, and as many veggies as I want.
4. I don't eat any fried foods, and I eat no potatoes, bread, pasta or white rice. No flour. I eat flour-free Ezekiel bread once a day, making an open face chicken or turkey sandwich. I make brown rice or barley once in a while, and have that with dinner about 3 times a week.
5. I don't eat dairy, except for half and half in my coffee and a frozen yogurt as a treat on the weekend. Study after study has shown that adults do not need dairy, and a lot of people (me included) are lactose intolerant. Just don't want to put my calories there.
6. I eat protein with every meal; it gives me energy and keeps me feeling more satisfied: Eggs, chicken, turkey, fish or seafood, pork, lamb or steak. (I limit beef or lamb to no more than 2 times a week.) 2 eggs is one portion, and about 4 or 5 ounces of the other is a serving.
7. When I go out to lunch, I have a large salad with protein, and I use whatever dressing I want to. I am only human and it helps me stay on the food plan.
8. If I go out to dinner, I order whatever protein I want, I get a salad and a steamed veggie instead of a potato or rice. But I don't eat sauces or gravies, no ketchup. I use mustard and/or light mayo when I feel I want them, but by the tablespoon, not a cup.
9. I use Pam or a little olive oil to stir fry things. No butter.
10. Instead of dessert when we are out with friends or at someone's house, I just have hot tea or coffee, and if fruit is offered I will have some.
11. I use Splenda in my coffee or tea, or sometimes Stevia. I need the sweet taste. Some will argue that it is unhealthy, but I argue that it is healthier than being obese.
I have to run out now, I hope this helped you. Ask any questions you have and I will be glad to help you and be a support system for you and anyone who needs it. Living well is not an easy job; nothing is cured, it is just managed. That is what I do; everyday I manage my eating as best as possible.
Without the exercise, I don't know how much the rest matter in terms of losing weight. I'm stuck at 186. I got down to 180 when I was on the treadmill, but then I had this month long migraine and I went back to 186.
This migraine has subsided, and if it stays away till monday, I'll be back on the treadmill, but going very, very slowly.
