Hi, Im Susan and I lost my sister 1/10 from cancer. I am 1 of 6 ,and she was my first sibling to pass. I spent more time with her than my other siblings, we were not just sisters we were friends.
Last year at this time I thought I was going crazy, I just could not come to terms with her death. I slept and cried, almost never left my house. About a week after she passed I started having panic attacks.I didn't know what was happening to me, I could not function. Just after the 1 year anniversary of her death, I was told by a family member to GET OVER IT!!!!! Like I could just get over the death of my sister. Is it written somewhere you can only grieve for a specific time period? I'm still grieving, I still want to pick up the phone and talk to her.I miss my friend.
Hi Susan. I just joined this group today. Let me be the first to tell you that you are not crazy. You are grieving and everyone grieves differently. I just lost my 2nd sister on April 29th. I lost my first sister almost 14 years ago. I am still grieving. Don't let anyone tell you how to grieve or how long to grieve. Only you know what you are feeling and know the true extent of your loss. You will never "get over it" but in time you will adjust your life to keep her memory alive. Nothing we do will bring our sisters back. So go ahead and grieve, just please take care of yourself during the process. They would want us to be happy and to remember their beautiful lives. Be well. My heart goes out to you.
Hi susan
I have just joined to, i lost my brother 5 weeks ago to an unexpected heart attack, my boyfriend keeps telling me to move on and stop thinking about my bro so much, he obviously cant cope with my grief and anyone who cant support us are probably not the right people to have around us. big hugs
