I think when you have to resort to self gratification and your partner no longer has any desire or even a gram of compassion to try to help you...it is a sexless marriage.

You mention self love. Dare I say for most of us women who were discounted and ignored for too long, we struggle to even feel love for ourselves for some time.

There is nothing worse than taking vows to love someone through good and bad til death do us Part only to have them no longer even want to look, touch or listen to us. I felt as attractive as a garden slug for a long time)

Actually, I think that you can use the term even if there is still some sex but far less than normal.

They say if you have sex less than 10 times a year, it's considered sexless.
It's been almost 4 1/2 years for me, but veggiequeen's marriage was sexless way longer than mine. She really went through a lot. She is a special friend and a real lady.
What is your situation?
