Hey just joined, been married to my wife for 7 years, together for 11 in total, my wife was diagnosed with fibromyalgia, she is just in constant pain and LITERALLY ALWAYS TIRED..LIKE ALWAYS LOL, and i have done my best to be supportive, things have changed dramatically...there are many things she can longer do, like move around very well, or lift things, and the pain she is in is constant, she cant sleep, she cant interact with the kids like ahe used to..so i have to step up..i get the kids ready in the morning, i do most of the cleaning, laundry, drive everyone everywhere..and it hurts to see my wife be a shell of who she was..i do my best to help her with pain and mentally be strong, cuz with all she is going thru, she is becoming depressed..and due to all these issues sex has become a thing of the past, i understand that she cant control her fibromyalgia, and i feel bad saying this..but i feel like the forgotten person..now i have always been a very sexual person..so this dramtic night and day change took some time to get used to..i masterbate but it has its limits, cuz its intimacy i want..i want to be wanted..sounds weird coming from a man i bet..but its true..!! Lol...i ve spoken to her and its like in one ear and out the other and treated like im not being understanding to her situation..ive explained to her that i get while you are in pain i dont expect you to be intimate, but a lil effort on her side would help keep in a good place, cuz after all i am human i have needs, wants and desires, but she doesnt seem to understand, thinks i only want sex for sex sake..no sex supports the bond of the couple, its naturally a strees reliever..i feel bad cuz i have began to think long term on how is this gonna be..even beginning to think i may need to go elsewhere for my desires, but does anyone have advice, tips, am i being a jerk? Pls help anyone out there can relate to my situation..thanks for reading..stay blessed
Hello. Please know you are not alone. There are many of us here and yes, some men who also are in your same situation. They love their wife and family , but it is very hard when you feel disconnected. They struggle with guilt because they feel like they are being selfish assholes because they miss sex even though there may be reasons (health issues) they go without.
I have been married for almost 17 yrs (the last 12 with no sex, affection, touch of any kind... except an occasional peck... little communication and no help of any kind). My stbx has some health issues, but for the most part, he has simply shut down both emotionally and physically. Has no desire or interest in sex, so I should follow his lead. I tried for awhile ,but it is no way to live ...with absolutely nothing to look forward to. He is content as his needs are met (roommate, cook, maid and nurse) but I am ashamed to say for me the anger and resentment just keeps on building. I want and need so badly to move on. I never had any children (so there is not even that to hold us together)
Welcome to the group and know that it affect us ALL … not being touched or feeling wanted or guilty for simply being human and needing to be touched. and feel loved.
I too am in a same circumstances,my wife too has fibromyalga,no sex for the last three years, however we do get along pretty good,on occasion I have also masturbated.I feel bad that I do and miss that part of intimacy.I fully understand.
So my situation is a bit different. I'm the fibro wife. However he is the one who is affectionless, and totally emotional and sexually unavailable. Years ago my fibro was worse, just a hug from him or the kids and I wanted to scream it hurt so bad. And I felt guilty for being tired and in pain. But sex was something that I enjoyed, and was worth the pain. (I realize it's not the same for everyone) but now it's been so long I wonder if i even remember how. Lol. I think though if it were me.... if I was the one with no interest I would tell him to have his needs met else where. In fact I know I would. I tend to equate things to food. But when I'm too sick to cook. We order out. I love him enough to be willing to let him scratch and itch if I'm not doing it. So is it he doesn't love me enough to allow me the same opportunity? I hope this didnt all come out wrong. But life is short to live missing out on whatever it is. Sex, intimacy, love. Maybe as people we make it too complicated. Or maybe I've lost my mind. Lol
