Hello. I'm a 39 year old manchild, live in the Bay area so I'm still at my parents, have a great occupation and compensation, never been married, no kids, go the gym regularly and church. My life is pretty good, but I've been a masturbating perve since I was 13. Tried many times to stop, but always relapse. I've had relationships in the past, but they always end for some reason, probably because I cheat on them with porn. I'm working on 1 week clean. Hopefully joining this group will help me crack my compulsion and addiction, so that I can eventually have a healthy life with meaningful relationships and move on with my life the way I know is right.

Good for you for wanting to be clear of this issue. You will need to find a way to refocus what you think about. "Celebrate Recovery" groups are a good resource to help you do this. Find people who will pray with you. Prayer works wonders!

Time2.. For over 10 years i have struggled with sex addiction, and the endless cycle of relapse and regain sobriety, then rinse and repeat. A few months ago i read 'Think and grow rich' ans specifically the chapter on sex. All the recovery groups and 12 steps were about trying to not be highly sexed. But Napoleon Hill talks about not disipating emotional sexual energy by overindulging in physical sex. The epiphany was that my higher than normal 'sex vibration' was wasted in the hands of a 12 year old habit of masturbating to avoid uncomfortable feelings, rather than in the capable hands of an adult who could channel that emotional sexual energy into useful enwrgy like enthusiasm, charm, charisma. Sex is powerful like water. I think self nurturing healthy connected non dissociative or porny experience with M is sort of biological. Wasting it on debasing pleasure when the energy could be used to produce intimacy with your spouse, or another sale by channeling it into enthusiasm has alot of value. The place to avoid is libertine. ImHO
