Sexual addiction, also sometimes called sexual compulsion, is a form of psychological addiction to sexual intercourse and other sexual behavior.
I have started going to therapy to talk about my issues.
I still feel out of control some days and almost sick with this frantic need.
I'm terrified my wife will leave me - take my 2 kids away from me.
I'm terrified people will view me as a freak or a pervert - but I have been opening up to my friends and family over this last week and truthfully telling them what is going on.
Every time I'm met with acceptance and kindness I feel so much relief I'm dizzy.
Not all has gone well - my sister did tell me I was sick - a pervert - that I didn't deserve my wife or my kids. As did one of my best male friend.
I'm trying to live with their disapproval and still make progress but it is a struggle. I'm trying to improve and get better and go clean but it is really a struggle.
I'm hoping and praying for the best - for myself and all of you.

I am happy that you are doing well. I want to respond to yiur post because you are projecting alot of fear and i want to encourage you that it is not necessary.
First of all, you dont have control over your wifes choices, but you do have alot more control over your choices and circomstances than you ever thought possible in the throws of your adiction. You have the potential of being a great husband, better, and more awake and mindful than most men, specifically becauae you are taking this addiction on directly.
Second, it is very useful to get what Pia Melody calls listenigng boundaries in place. Then when people say things like your a pervert, you can let those ideas THAT ARE NOT TRUE fall on the floor in front of you, and not respond emotionally to them. Then you will be more equipped to be compassionate to them, realizing they are doing the best they can at the time, and be curious about what is going on in their lives that makes them critique your behavior. I have a dollar that says they are in pain themselves.
I know your not ready to believe this yet, but my hope for you is that you begin to believe that you are an infinatrly unique gift to the world, and those around you. In order to be that guy, you have to decide that disipating your sexual energy into acting out is a waste of time amd that your gift is much more valuable, filfillilling and fun!
