Get the book that I have recommended many times. It will explain that porn changes your brain a little a time until one day, you cannot do things that you used to do. Porn destroys relationships because it takes you into a fantasy world and your partner will never be able to compete with that. You need to be able to put away those images away. The book is called “Every Man’s Battle,” by Steve Arterburn and Fred Stoker. This might help you get started. They also have a website called New Life and they have a radio program. Try calling in if you want quicker more specific answers. I would do it soon and get something going before it is too late.

I think people would look at porn a lot less or not at all IF they weren’t STUCK for the rest of their lives living a sexless existence. If people were actually getting the REAL thing, then they wouldn’t watch porn is my guess. So in my opinion, it’s a great substitute when you’re not getting any or any human touch from the opposite sex. However, I do sympathize with your situation and how you feel.

Hey potato guy, I've heard good things about "Every Man's Battle". Another resource is "Pure Life Ministries", that's the name of the organization/website but there's a book too, but the book name is escaping me at present.
Try to remember that it's a marathon, not a sprint. And that it's a real addiction, treat it that way.

sleeplessblackbeauty There’s a lot to theorize about how it works. In my case, I didn’t have a partner until my late 19’s, but i still didn’t considered to have a problem until certain familiar problems came by and after that it became more like an escape. At some point not so long ago I just watched for that “high” it gave until it became a habit. So personally, I don’t think loneliness is quite enough to explain the addictive behavior, I believe it’s more about the way of coping with problems (even if that problem is loneliness, if that makes sense ).
As a side note, i wouldn’t talk in absolutes hahaha. I also believe the way to go in that aspect is to work in yourself. The less you focus on trying to get that happiness in others , the more it will get to you by yourself. That way, even if it doesn’t come to you the way you expect it, you’ll have your hands full with something bigger.
Just by being in this group I can tell the pursue for this is already on the go, so keep it up. I’ll keep working to do the same

I agree Potatoe guy. I feel that if you cannot create your own happiness then you can't expect someone else to do it. I have spent the better part of the last 4-5 years figuring out how to do that. I had significant changes in my life then that required me to "rediscover" myself. I retired from the military after 24 years, divorced my wife, and left my home of 8 years all within 2 weeks of each other.

I found that getting outside and being active was the key. Also getting involved in my community helped a lot. In doing so I made new friends and created new routines. The busier you keep yourself doing positive things the less time you have to do things you don't feel are as positive.
