Well I think the title says it all. I am getting a divorce. Not my choice per se. On April 20th, about two and half weeks ago. I inquired to my husband about his whereabouts and he really blew up on me and told me he was going to file for divorce. He left me with no reason, but that he was tired of being micromanaged and feeling like he was living under a microscope. I don't believe that I was micromanaging him with the exception of the filters that he accepted to put on his phone and computer. He eventually took off the filter on his computer.
Throughout our time being married- well after d-day in October- things spiraled downhill. I experienced so much of him that I never would like to experience again with anyone. I saw how cold, manipulative, controlling, detached, and aggressive he could be. I felt so isolated, uneasy, paranoid, hyper-vigilant, and alone. I feared for my safety as well as my children's and our family dog's safety on numerous occasions. I know this sounds cliche but he was not the man I married at the alter.
Throughout this divorce he has managed to lie, control, and try to manipulate everything. He has tried to get me for abduction of our child, when there was no evidence behind it. It has disrupted all our lives to say the least. It is hard on my son even though he is only 10 months old. Things could have been handled so differently. Now my son is put in the middle of everything my husband throws my way and it's saddening. He said he only married me for the baby... which I already expected... but it hurt being confessed finally.
It amazes me that this is happening all because for what I feel I was just trying to change a behavior. I feel like the rug was pulled from underneath me and I valued marriage so much. I exhausted all our options to try to make this marriage work, and he resisted every one of those things. Nothing mattered. Nothing worked. It saddens me that this addiction won. I mean maybe there was something more there, but it's hard to imagine, besides that he just didn't genuinely love me either.
I can't really pinpoint how I feel. I feel detached and indifferent. I do have my moments of being sad but they don't last very long. I just have no family here where I am at or friends because I was always confined to the house. I feel alone sure, but not a feeling I'm unfamiliar with. He has tried to talk to me just to talk like we are friends, but I honestly don't care what he's up to or what's going on with his life. I tried to talk the night he threw divorce at me and for the past 11 months and he hasn't wanted to. Now I don't care to unless it involves my son. On a positive note, I see the blessings this have given me. I live more relaxed and healthy. I live more happily in some senses. I don't live in fear or paranoia anymore. And it took this to really see the unhealthy environment I was living in.
So I am going to walk through these next few months, that I'm sure are going to be hell to walk through- but I'm going to do it with my head held high knowing that I tried all I could, I can't force something that's not there. And I am going to add this to my story. After all it is a chance to start over- even though this isn't what I wanted in order to start over- this is what God has given me at the moment so I am going to embrace this journey.

Saying how sorry I am to hear about the ordeal you endured in the past few months will sound trite compared to the magnitude of the tribulations you have endured.
Perhaps, I may miss the mark here but I will attempt my best to convey my support and understanding toward you at this particular junction
There was nothing you could have done, not done to prevent this if he was not willing to get help. You did what you thought was right and that is more than enough.
It was his sole responsibility to get help, not yours. I regret having to hear that you got caught in the crossfire. The truth is not so much that the addiction won but that he allowed it to win
Sadly, his is one of the many casualties, I am just relieved to know you are no longer living in such unhealthy environment with your son.
It will take a while to decompress from all that has transpired, just make sure you are taking care of yourself during this delicate time.
I sadly no words left because I am truly stunned but not surprised. We are here for you, should you need to vent.
Hugs,
Wolf
So many things I could say. But I'm wondering what other support/guidance you have for these next months? Counselor, lawyer, support group, church, friends?

Under normal circumstances, no one should threaten divorce just because they have to be held accountable.
Please get yourself a good attorney. Move towards healing. You have suffered long enough.
FreeButterfly70: I don't have much support. My attorney only when I see her. And it seems like he has the upperhand with so much. They feel that pornography isn't a big deal and that emotional abuse isn't anything unless I've been beaten, than I have no case. There are no support groups here where I live, sadly. One church group on Wednesday nights, but I have no sitter. I have no family and friends here. And on top of that he puts no money in our joint account, he is now using a different account so I have no money for a counselor.
2EarlyRiser: I have looked up and down for support groups here in my town, and on top of that I have no sitters. Or money to be spending on a counselor. I feel helpless. I have even slacked on praying. Thank you for your kind words. I have yet manage my feelings.
Candycin: I am trying to take care of myself for the kids for sure. It has been rough. And you couldn't have said it better he is just plain old selfish. It breaks my heart that he will be an influential person in my son's life after all that he has done and after the way he behaves. He resists all help. I am always so paranoid and anxious now. Mediation is going to suck. But I will admit that this is a blessing as it was my shove out the door finally.
Keep a journal of everything that he does that you suspect is harrassment towards you.
See if you can file for an order of protection (each state has their own laws so check with your lawyer).
Find out if you qualify for any kind of financial assistance.
I hope you get the help and support you need.
I do need to educate myself on the laws for sure. I am anxious and overwhelmed due to what has already taken place. Thank you!
I am so sorry to hear of your situation. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
FreeButterfly70: Of course, PM away. I would love any suggestions you may have. I have actually found a church for me and my kiddos. One with childcare. We went to a prayer meeting Tuesday and then a support group yesterday. I just felt a little out of place as they were all addicts of something, but they were very sweet. Yes the only support I have here now is my mom. She's been here for almost three weeks thankfully- but at some point I know that will come to an end because she lives two states away. And so meanwhile I am just waiting for my mediation to happen, as today it was postponed to a month. But please any suggestions are welcome. Thank you!
I've been pornography free for a year now, but today I teetered on the edge, as I have many times. To me it feels like an escape, like eating candy or something. I was a pin hair away from watching hard core pornography on Netflix. I had come across by accident.
I've many excuses and I don't consider the future of myself when I do this. I imagine things to be better than they probably will be.
I'm totally dependent on my father for livelihood, and he is often despicable. I ponder from time to time, looking at sexually arousing material can make me have higher expectations of women, so the women I do correspond with I may tell off, or simply notify them that I'm not interested. But at the same time it makes me more desperate and that causes me to simply find anybody that works, instead of finding some dream boat.
I've felt like there were no consequences for my pornography addiction and drug addictions as well. But I can guess that maybe there are some. Today I saw videos that were pornographic, I stopped them befor I had seen any humping, genitals, or nipples; but, I was extremely close to viewing the hard core scences. I realized that I can make a million excuses.
You might get the picture, it's a cycle of cause and effect.
