Yesterday, the provincial police came in to chat with my students about internet safety. I was interested to hear about some house rules, which are useful for entire households, not just addicts. I thought I'd share what some families do, and would love to hear yours. I've posted this up in a forum for partners as well--I thought it would be helpful to hear from as many people as possible.
Some examples were:
-central recharging station where all devices must be placed by 8pm at night
-actual wifi modem? server? set up with timer which turns house wifi off overnight automatically
-Norton
-basic internet parental controls on Xbox (parental password-protected)
We use Covenant eyes, but I have to say, I find their reports hard to use--it shows even the ads as sites seen, so I can't tell what my husband has actually visited unless I go onto his own personal computer history. We're considering X3Watch--curious if their reports are more clear, and it's one account for both computer and phone usage.
We've considered funamo? And we've heard about apps that track travel....any experiences with those?
