Today I was thinking about how much sexual themes are present in Pop. art, such as manga. The sexual themes seek to exalt the sex appeal of women, and also they present men as being violent heros. I have hardly seen manga that didn't have men carrying guns and women nearly nude.
Being a recovering pornography addict it's difficult for me to see sexual images and not be drawn to them, but I think that looking at sexual themes is a waste of time and it merely harms our Cynical values.
Hypothetically, it's no mystery that Pop. entertainment is basically pornography, maybe even on the fringe. It's like drug addiction as a social exploit.

Yes, the world we live in today has become very sexualised. From make-up adverts, perfume adverts, documentries especially on BBC 3 in the UK, movies to online shopping. When I go on Ebay to have a look at some deals on tops for women, the pictures that come up sometimes shocks me. I am looking for a top, or even a jacket and they have completly sexualised the person modelling for them and not only that, they photoshop them to give normal people a complextion about themselves. The person in them even do sexual poses. When I was pregnant, I would look for maternity clothes and my god...it really disgusted me. Even resturants!! Hooters for example. What is wrong with the world??
And today, younng girls some children are looking like full grown women. You have hair wigs that they clip on, new perimum make-up that covers every flew, clothing that can make your body look completly different. Fake eyelashes, HD brows, lip plumpers, lip suckers, contouring, anime contact lenses...the list goes on.
And now I see the male generation going the same way too. I have seen young boys at the age of 14-15 years old trying to look like a human version of the hulk. I see a lot of young lads go to tanning salons and so forth.
This gernation is so very different from the ones before. Today, the media is making it normal to look like a Barbie and a Ken doll. And if you don't look like these people, well.... you just dont fit in and you're not attractive. In order to get a boyfriend, you must look like an escort and in order to get a girlfriend, you must look like the hulk or characters from a fantasy novel.
I do feel like the media and so on are brain washing us and changing us to become animal and materialistic. False, hollow people that only care about our sexual appearences.
When in realility, when you take all of make-up, hair etc away from these people....they look like any ordinary person.
My niece is only 15, but you'd swear she was a 25 year old. When you take all that crap away from her, she looks like a little girl again and not only that, their arrogant attitude changes with it to. They become more humble from my experiences.
It's the younger gerneration that is growing up today is what scares me. I am just thankful I do not have a little girl. The world is hard enough for women as it is and now we have this to top it all off for them.
But I feel it is too late to change as people are already sucked into it.
