I’m a 37 year old male with a sex/porn addiction and looking for advice/help. I’m on day number one of no porn and it doesn’t seem that bad right now but I know it’s only the beginning. I usually watch on and off all day long even at work and it affects my home life to the point where I act out my fantasies (porn I watch, which I want to experience in real life) but I know I shouldn’t let these fantasies dictate my way of life but I have and it need to stop now as it is affecting my home life. I thought I could keep it under control but I was wrong and now I need help to try and correct the wrongs I have done. I know it’s not going to be instant, it will take time and determination, that much I know. So my first goal is to cut porn out of my life all together by at least June 2019, so with that been said any advice/help is greatly appreciated

Hi - congratulations and welcome to the club. what helps me is to make sure that I keep devices (laptops, smartphones etc) out of the bedroom. Also logging in here everyday helps me. Getting out and socializing - even if only sitting in a café - can help as well

Good for you for wanting to rid your life of pornography. As you have said it is a waste of time and gets in the way of normal relationships with people – especially family. The biggest thing I do when wanting to change a bad habit – is to find a good habit to replace it with. Perhaps you know of someone who needs some work done around their house. Or maybe there is a charity that you could help out with. I find when I do something useful for others – that I think less about my self. I feel more Blessed when I help others. I also like to attend church and gather good thoughts to fill my mind with. Going to church helps me to have a better perspective on life. Good luck my friend!

I'm right with you. Been clean for about 2 weeks. For me, it's big to realize the triggers. Boredom, frustration, etc. Trying to keep myself busy helps too. My therapist says controlling your thoughts is vital. When you feel the urge, just sit and do nothing until it passes. You can realize you won't die without it.
