I wanted to ask if you're seeing a psychiatrist for the bipolar disorder and if you're on any medication for it? If medication has beeen prescribed for the disorder, are you taking it the way you're supposed to, or are you missing some of the times you're supposed to be taking the meds? Is your psychiatrist aware of this hyper manic phase you're in right now? If so, has he/she made any suggestions to you as to how you might deal with things? It's important that all of these issues be addressed first before we start worry about a sexual addiction. If you're following your psychiatrist's instructions, and you're taking your medication as prescribed, then we can talk about things. But I need to know that you've got everything else taken care of. Can you honestly tell me that you are doing everything you're supposed to be doing?

I do see a psychiatrist once a month - ten days till my next appointment. And yes, I do take medication that has worked very well for some time now. I was only diagnosed a year ago and engaged in this same behavior before being medicated. I think my lover leaving triggered me into doing this again. I don't know how I'm going to bring this up to my psychiatrist. I was hoping I could breal\k this habit before seeing her again, that it would be a phase that would go away, and it still might be. I was good last night and didn't go looking for a guy. I maybe should have posted this on the Bipolar board. But thanks for trying to help.

just keep fighting the good fight. If somebody with total paralysis like myself can overcome the challenges of this earth with complete honesty and a huge smile anybody can! Life is good through the Lord keep living one day at a time appreciating one moment at a time patience for things that take time, appreciation for all that you have tolerance for those with different struggles, the freedom to live beyond the limitations of your past ways. The strength to get up each day even though it may feel helpless (I ought to know). This is a partial extension of the serenity prayer in which I say every night and many times during the day perhaps it will help you guys as well!-? Heretic: You said, " it seems that boredom consumes me ." So...have you searched for something else to do when you're bored? It would seem that there are lots of things to do besides put yourself in health risk. Why is that the first option?

Yes, I have looked for other things to do, and there are many - but this has become an addiction that is consuming my life, it's not that it is the first or only option of things to do - it is just a very bad behavior that I have become addicted to.

I think if you find other things you're passionate about...you less likely to be bored...since you listed that as a problem. Find something really interesting to do that takes a lot of your free time. Do that first. And then something else after. And leave the thing you "don't" want to do the last on the list.

Welcome heretic. I for one, think you are very much in the right place. I know there are some bipolar aspects going on. But there also seems to be some form of addiction. But only you can know that for sure. There are some online tests for you to take to see if you are. I can look back and see that boredom did trigger my addiction as well. But there was more underlying that trigger. And it's taken getting into recovery for me to find it. I hope you will stick around and read the posts and offer and receive support.
