I have been addicted to porn and masterbation since february of this year. I personally never thought that I would get too addicted. I just was using it more to cover up a problem that I was facing and eventually that after two months I would stop. Sadly I feel that it is something that I just can't seem to stop. I hate doing it and what its doing to me. I have tried to stop many times, but I find myself feeling anxious an needing it more and more. I have lost sleep and my happiness over this. I am reaching for advice and help on how I can stop. I really like this community and hope that I can get something out of it.

It is difficult to stop because our brains have become used to the drug. If you can go six weeks then the withdrawl will be fading.

You need to take it one day at a time and set boundaries around your computer use at times when you are vulnerable. There are filters and ways to block sites as well. You will have to give it all you've got. No half measures!

I found that it was so bad in my case that nothing I tried to make it stop worked. And I tried A LOT. It really beat me up. 12-step was the only thing that worked for me = not meetings but doing the program. I'd be happy to talk to you about it.

As the other responses have suggested, finding other real-live people to talk to, who understand what you're going through and won't judge, can be an effective way to get started. Have you tried a 12-step group, or a therapist?

I agree, 12 step is awesome. My church has a program (free to all) called the Addiction Recovery Program, and it is based on 12 step. There is also a national organization called sexaloholics, and you might find a find group in your area. For ARP meetings, look here:

Thanks for the awesome reply. I have reached out to a therapist in town and it has helped a lot and have seen some change. I will continue to go and work on myself to continue on this road to recovery.
