Sexual addiction, also sometimes called sexual compulsion, is a form of psychological addiction to sexual intercourse and other sexual behavior.
Last week my wife was sent to the hospital. She spent four days there. The first night I feared I would use sex/masturbation to soothe the loneliness I would be facing. I held tightly to a brightness of hope that I wouldn't be tempted to give in. The first night went by fine. I felt really good about the unknown future. I am happy to report that I did not give into my carnal urges to help through one of the hardest times I've had in awhile. My wife is doing alright. She needs 24 hour care. I am up to the task and look forward to taking care of my dear bride. I have learned a very valuable from this, I can bear more than I could ever imagine, face temptation in the face and stare it down. I am a lot stronger than I thought. I am doing just fine, even with the thought of not knowing what lies ahead. Recovery is a beautiful experience, even when faced with stress and distress.
I am here to say that I am very proud of you, Recovery is a very unpredictable dear critter indeed, when you think you have it altogether and have your ducks in a row, it throws you a monkey wrench, just to see if you really are committed.
You see now a strength, I am sure you did not realize you had all along because indulgence has been lying to you for quite a long time. You may not know what lies ahead but take a page from your own book: You have the strength for any bad moment you could possibly have.
Concentrate on what you need to do to care for your ailing wife and everything thing else (by this I mean carnal wanton) is actually inconsequential. Yet, at this time, caregivers are to take care of themselves, as well, wearing yourself out can leave you open to relapse because of weakened spirit, so please take good care of yourself during this time.

I am so sorry to hear about your wife, but at the same time elated to here you did not give in. I have so many harsh memories of times I used the wrong thing to get through stressful times.
Your wife is blessed to have such a loving strong husband to care for her.
