Hey everyone I wanted to try this since group therapy is pretty much shit down cause of all this corona virus scare. Just a quick history I've been addicted since I was 11 or so I'm now 35 I had an event happen to me where I was molested at a very young age and to combat those thoughts I looked at straight porn for years to rid those memories from entering my mind. Fast forwarding to high school I was more addicted to it and viewing everyday after school. Smart phones came out I had greater access to it.. computers reached the far space of porn and I got hooked. I got married to my best friend and I committed a crime which landed me a spot in jail and a registered sex offender. I did not rape or force my victim but words and some actions made me regret my life which I almost took my own life. I fought hard for forgiveness and repaired as much as I could. My wife forgave me but it is still hard for me to forgive myself fully. My porn addiction led me down this path and I went months without porn only to crash and come back hard. I lied to my wife countless times when she asked if I've been sober and it hurts me to lie ... to cover up my demon. I'm no way a predator or a creep who stalks schools or anything like that I made one mistake and I'm paying for it daily. I took up new activities to battle my depression. I started to learn drumming since last summer. What I'm really saying is what other different tactic could I try to rid my mind of demons. I've go e weeks at a time without porn but I catch myself peeking and sneaking often now.
Now I try to have wife centric thoughts when I get the urge to look at porn. She's made it clear that she wants to be the only woman in my sexual thoughts. I have no problem with that, but I have decades of images in my head from countless hours of browsing porn. So if I get the urge, I'll either play a game on my phone to take my mind off of it, or try and think about a loving thought about my wife and how I can continually improve my relationship with her. It's a constant struggle for sure. Stay strong!
Hanging out with guys doing whatever helps.
Join a mens group at church.
If you are busy helping other men, you will feel better.
When you start down the road of relapses reach out... its hard to but try. Even swallow your pride and tell your wife you are feeling weak, alone, depressed, sad, hurt or however you are feeling.
We forget to talk to our wives about our problems.
