Yesterday September 28, 2013 was my one year anniversary away from pornography.

Here are a few things I've done to stay away.

I use a spiritual component in my recovery. I use a higher power, God. My faith if God has lead me to have hope that I can and will recover from the disease of addiction. I attend a 12-step Addiction Recovery Group the church has created. It is based on the 12 steps of Alcohol Anonymous with the Gospel as the main theme. I work the steps and have a strong faith in God.

When I am on the computer and get the urge to look at porn, I immediately turn off the computer and "go into another room." I stopped looking at soft-core porn too, like panty and lingerie ads and bikini videos.

I eat right. I began a healthy way of eating. I eat lots of fresh produce and a little bit of lean meat. I don't drink coffee or tea or smoke or drink alcohol. I get plenty of sleep but not too much. I go to bed early in the evening and wake early in the morning. I average about 8-9 hours of sleep a night. I exercise as much as possible. Since I had bad knees I am limited as to what and how much I can do. I walk a lot.

I keep a written journal everyday. I list the good things I've done, my feelings whether they are good or bad, I track my incomings and my outgoings. I write about my hopes and my dreams.

Lastly I work my mind. I change my thought patterns. I don't dwell on the negative side of things. When I thing lustful thoughts I rebuke them and ask for forgiveness. I pray for that person whom I just had lustful thoughts of.
