hi I’m new, I like the idea of an anonymous groups where you don’t see the people you are talking to.  I am in the process of recovery, have been addicted to porn for the last few years, usage had been increasing and slowly becoming out of control.  Started getting into femdom and saw I have escalated my use.  Things that use to turn me off now turn me on and it got to the point where I went to visit a dominatrix, justifying that visit because there was no intercourse.  My wife found out and it almost broke our marriage.  It still might since it’s been only two months.  I erased all my files and it’s still been feeling ok.  I have gotten closer to my wife in the last two months but it’s still been rocky.  I had done a period of abstinence and found that after a couple of weeks it became manageable, but still have the urge to view porn.  This is one of those instances and I hope by posting I can contain them.

I hope things work out for you and your family. I'm in the process of possibly losing my marriage and family due to porn. Too hard to quit on your own sometimes. At least it is for me. I'm seeking out help by attending counseling and SA meetings. It's helping. You might want to consider something like that.

Yes, I forgot to mention that i’ve been getting counseling and was recommended to join a group. I’m trying to make this my group. I know it’s not the same but it’s always been easier to express myself through the written word than speaking. Also I like the anonymity in this group.

user1974, good for you. remember, however, that this addiction thrives in isolation. this group is a great place for you to find anonymous connections, but in our experience recovery from problem porn use takes a giant leap forward when you get out from behind a screen and make live, human connections with others who understand and empathize with what you're going through. joining an in-person group doesn't mean you have to speak at meetings. staying silent is also perfectly ok in our experience.

Keep reminding your self of the cost of porn in your life. I know it is easier said then done. I have been there and I am there in relation to my struggles. I am finding that one thing that helps me is to try to be proactive and honest with myself. if I am home alone I need to make a plan. Get out of the house, make other plans, text someone, reach out and be honest. Hopefully you can use this group to help with this. Remember you are stronger than your thoughts and your addiction and you are here because you have recognized the costs of porn in your life. Take Care,

I am so sorry to hear about the possible breakage of your marriage. I also am largely familiar with being better spoken through writing. After all, I am a writer. I also enjoy the anonymity is appreciated as well. It is a great thing to hear that you are on the path to recovery. I hope that your marriage stands firm in this and your wife remains by your side. Having your wife by your side is priceless. I hope you remain strong through your fight with this. It isn't an easy one, but it will definitely be a worth it one.
