For me, joining this site was a large step in the right direction. I had to come to terms with the fact that I needed help and then took it from there. Expressing the problem to others and getting their insight and feedback was incredibly helpful. There were many conversation shared that helped me understand more about myself and my own addiction to sex and porn. I think understanding and knowledge are keys to getting things under control. The more you can make sense of the addiction, the easier it is to look at and the less insurmountable recovery becomes. Also, I opened up to my brother about it, and after still being accepted by him, I knew that I had someone in my corner. He's been there ever since and helps me stay straight. Remember to love yourself and to be patient with your recovery process. It's very easy to get flustered and angry with ourselves when we fail even the simplest goals; don't. Accept it and move on. We're stronger than the addictions, and it's important to remember that we are, in the end, the master of our own minds and bodies. In my experience, studying the topic and coming to understanding it better is a great way to start. I hope something in that helps!
Love yourself, be kind and patient with yourself, and give yourself an understanding hand. Keep from getting negative with yourself and try to keep energy neutral. The more negative you throw at the addiction, the worse it will become. You're not alone. Welcome to the group.
Best of wishes,
