Sex / Pornography Addiction Support Group
Sexual addiction, also sometimes called sexual compulsion, is a form of psychological addiction to sexual intercourse and other sexual behavior.
I love my son and have supported him since his conviction, but I am mad as hell at him and I am so very sad too. I feel that the system failed us when he was a kid and it's failed us now. This was his 1st and only crime but he got prison time and a life time sentence on the sex offenders registry for possessing child pornography. He won't talk about it and he wouldn't fight for himself either. He's getting out next month and he threw away a great future. Graduated with honors with 2 bachelor degrees, was in the top 3 percent in his classes. I just don't know what to say or act. How to get on with my life, I'm a pediatric RN and I can't talk to anyone outside of the family or I risk losing my job. Am I being selfish, and heartless to be angry, disappointed, and depressed about this
My story is different but I understand. I disappointed my wife ,mother and the rest of the family. My wife was very mad and don't blame her.
Things will get better but it will take time.
It wouldn't be a bad idea to search for a group for you. Sometimes, in communities, there are support groups for this type of thing. If not a group like that then maybe through a church. You need to be able to talk to someone about it. I understand your work circumstance.
You've poured your life into him and disappointment is an appropriate feeling to have. Along with anger. But you can't live in depression forever. That will eat you up and draw on every negative emotion you have. It will show up in your service to the young children you care for. He has to live his consequences. Remember, his consequence not yours. He gave you no opportunity to help him while he was engaging in that behavior and he is doing himself a disservice by not talking with someone about it now. Encourage him talk to someone. And I encourage you to talk to someone.
You are not selfish right now. Your emotions are valid. You've got to talk with someone and he needs to as well. The system fails everyone. You have to have a higher power to appeal to. You can do something about depression. Make sure you are with a trusted person in your life now that you can confide in or with a professional counselor. Not just anybody.
Prayer is the place to begin and end.
