Hi all. I've just joined this group along with "Healthy Sex" and "Veterans"...two where I need help and one where I think I can maybe be of some help.

I'm not sure of the expectations for posts or interaction, so I'll start with a basic journal-type entry and see where it goes. Thanks for your indulgence!

Lack of intamacy or partnership destroyed my first marriage, and eight years into my second, I want to make sure that doesn't happen again. But the initial warning signs are there. I think that is one of the reasons why this "addiction" has resurfaced over the last year or so.

My issues are that it gets in the way of sleep or doing things I would much rather do like music, exercise, or generally being productive, and the resulting guilt affects my openness with my wife.

So this will be Day 1!

set your energy to the things you love to do, for me l started exercising In the morning again which keep my energy up all day and less focus on the obstacles.

Hello and welcome,
not knowing your history but i would suggest a local SA group and or therapy.
The addiction will destroy your self love, your ability to be intimate, and your soul.
Every time you act out, it chips away at your spirit and will, Then you loss value of things.

I suggest you try the 90 days nofap to help with the detox.

Thanks to you both! Challenge accepted. Replacing destructive acts, thoughts and feelings with ones that edify...that will be key.

What if you have it backwards in that the addiction rears it’s head and starts to ruin the intimacy? It’s too easy to blame the other person. Women are often sensitive and may not like sex that feels like body usage not love making. Like a turn off. Things that are done on porn videos may feel abusive or unsatisfying to our partners if it doesn’t feel like love making. To say it’s the wife’s fault you need porn is masking the truth. Maybe she feels it and is losing interest in the bedroom with you because of how things are. Why not ask her? And be willing to listen and get help for our addictions. Be real and willing to do actual lovemaking which is all about the partners pleasure and I bet her interest comes back.

I’d also suggest you consider a psychological evaluation because sometimes mood disorders cause manic or uncontrollable actions, lack of sleep, etc. Just a thought.

Thanks again, everyone! 2 days in and doing well. It’s surprising how often I have to push those thoughts aside, and I won’t say it’s smooth sailing, but I know I’m on the right path.
