My wife is out of town right now and in the past, that has usually meant slipping up and using porn. I have been doing much better this time (she has been out of town since Thursday morning) but I'm starting to feel some of those familiar urges and temptations tonight. I have already let her know how I'm feeling, so I'm hoping that that honesty, and this act of reaching out, will be enough to get me through things this time.

If anyone out there reads this tonight and can offer a word of encouragement, I'd much appreciate the help.

You can do this if you truly want to. You're stronger than your need for it. Imagine how proud she'll be, and how happy you will be when she comes back and you can fully honestly tell her that you did not use porn in her absence. This could be a great step! Stay strong, and have enough respect for yourself to not slip up. You and your wife both need you to keep it together. If you can't find the strength to stay away from it for yourself, then do it for her. Love is stronger than addiction my friend, and of its true, then nothing will stand in your way. Focus on your love for her, and your desire to get this right. When you can imagine how great it will be for you to have not used it, it may give you the strength to see that future into reality. Good luck! And don't give in!!

Thanks everyone for the encouraging words. I feel that I need to be accountable to this group. First, the good news - I was able to stay strong and not give in for the (original) duration of her trip! The bad news, however, is that she ended up having to stay an extra day and i ended up giving in on that last day we were apart.

I'm disappointed in myself, but I honestly feel less satisfaction out of using this time than I remember from other times recently. Maybe that was a turning point for me; maybe now I can think back to this time that I slipped up, remember how unsatisfying and empty it felt (in the moment, not just after), I can be stronger next time I feel temptations or urges.

It is ok to fail as long as you recognize it. The fact you recognize three lack of satisfaction is a good start. Don't beat yourself up. And never give up
