Hi. My name is Mason and I have been viewing pronography off and on since I was about 8. I am now 30. My addiction comes and goes and was something that was introduced when I was sexually abused. During the "hard time" this has been a fall back plan and I have used my addiction as a damn crutch. It has gotten really bad lately since have had joined some less than legitimet chat sites. I decided today that enought is enought. I have at a suidiial state becuase of my addiciton and the damange is has a can cause in my life and with family and friends. I am new to Daily Strenght and I ask for prayers and and guidence as I start the long road to recovery. I know that is not going to be as easy as it seems but I am willing to start poinitng my life in the right direction at least.

I have endured chronic depression and reason above a pornography addiction myself, so I can assure you there is reason for hope. The part of you that feels terrible about your actions is also the part of you that knows that you were created for something greater -- honor that part of you.

There are several of us on this site who can point you to resources for addicts, but first and foremost I hope you will seek help for your suicidal feelings.

If you are feeling suicidal, get immediate help. I'm sorry to hear that you were sexually abuse at 8 years old. Please look into Adult Survivors of Childhood Abuse (www.ASCAsupport.org) and 1 in 6 (https://1in6.org). I hope this will help you start healing. It's going to be a long process. So be gentle with yourself.

Congrats on making the first step. For someone who is going through recovery I say hang in there and take it a step at a time. What are you currently doing to seek treatment outside of daily strength?

I am currently seeing a therapist weekly, wanted to do saa but can't fit into into my schedule wit kids and work so am trying this, I keep a calendar of sobriety with rewards at check points, and have set boundaries for myself at different levels of severity. When I cross one because let's face it I'm an addict and I will cross them I look at what I did and reset my boundaries this has done wonders for me.
