Okay, so I was on a chat room and met a woman.... I screwed up and gave her a pic of me and my email... We started talking dirty and I started to feel bad, so I told her I was done and couldn't do it. She was threatening me and threatening to put my pic online, with my name, location(which thankfully I gave her a fake name a location), my email, and our conversation... she eventually left it alone saying it was all my fault and she was just trying to tell me to be safe... I don't believe her, but I learned my lesson... I don't know what to do...

well, you learned your lesson, so now move on the wiser for the experience. I've known other guys who got blackmailed like that. Lucky that you quit when you did, before she got more on you.

Try K9 or http://www.opendns.com/ (both are free) and maybe it will block the chat room or rooms.i think the first thing is we have to stay out of the chat rooms.

No point in beating yourself up over a mistake. Hopefully this woman will leave you alone now.

You might consider what triggered you to go to the chat room in the first place -- e.g. Were you bored, lonely, etc? Then think about what you will do the next time you have that feeling -- call a friend, go for a walk, do something you feel passionate about, etc?

Part of the addictive cycle is responding to the same triggers in the same way. Learning and practicing new responses is key.

It's really unfortunate that you had to go through a crazy situation like that. sad that people just can't be trusted which feeds my belief that humans just can't be trusted. Even when you think they earn your trust you still will be betrayed in some way. Thank goodness you were dishonest with your location, but pictures don't lie. My advice would be to ignore her completely, & never make contact with her again. She seems unstable as well. Please be careful. Predators come in many shapes.

My advice to musicchickie...NEVER, EVER give out your real name, your location, your cell phone number or any other personal information that can trace back to you. Also, if you're going to exchange erotic photos with someone (not saying that you should be, but...well, we're addicts, if we made good choices we wouldn't be here) is to NEVER show your face. Email addresses can always be deleted if you have someone bugging you. Or just have all the email from that person go to your junk folder. Best of luck.
