This may sound kind of crazy, but there's a reason I'm asking this question. Since you have trouble focusing, I wonder if you've ever been evaluated for A.D.D. or A.D.H.D? Recent research by Dr. Patrick Carnes, Dr. Mark Laaser, and others has found that those who have problems with relapsing on their recovery programs are extremely likely to have undiagnosed cases of A.D.H.D. This is all related to problems in the prefrontal lobe and frontal lobe of the brain (the area right behind the forehead), the areas that are responsible for impulse control and the areas where A.D.D. and A.D.H.D. begin. It has been found that injury to these areas of the brain can also cause difficulties with impulse control. Injuries could include a bump on the head, being injured playing football or ice hockey, hitting your head against the windshield in an auto accident, etc. Did any of that happen to you?

I suppose that is a possibility... when i was in grade school 3rd i believe, they said i had A.D.D and i was given ritalin to take.. my teacher was very pleased.. i havent taken it since but i had thought about it. Im not sure if it would help or not.. but i dont know what my problem is.. i tend to think it is more of an emotional issue, not enough confidence.. im not sure though. If the Sexual Addiction Screening Test says that sexual addiction IS NOT an issue for you, then your problem might be some type of dissociative disorder. That would explain the feelings you're having of being out of touch. Dissociative Disorders cover a very wide range of psychological disorders including Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, various personality disorders, all forms of addiction, situational and clinical depression, and the various forms of dissociative disorder. Dissociation happens when someone is abused, neglected, or abandoned as most sex addicts are as children. So a dissociative disorder would fit with the kind of history you'd normally see in a sex addict.

If you'd like to investigate dissociation a little bit more, there's a test that's available online, the Dissociative Experiences Scale, which you can take (there are only 28 questions to it) and score for yourself.
