My name's Carson. I've been addicted to pornography and masturbation for quite some time now and am constantly searching for a way out. I've tried many different things over the years, all of which have not been the catalyst I needed to beat my addiction. I found this website and figured I'd try it out and see how it goes. I'm just looking for people with whom I can associate and maybe find some strength and support when I'm going through tough times and temptations. I'm hoping ya'll will let me join your group.

Most offer local group and/or online meetings. Additionally, you can use porn blocking programs for you phone, laptop, pc, etc.. However, you'll need another person to set a password so you won't know it. Porn addiction is easy to fall into because it can be justified as "I'm not hurting myself" as with a drug or alcohol addictions. Unfortunately, we ( I'm also addicted) hurt our wife or girlfriend by not focusing all of our sexual efforts on them. I only watch porn to masturbate and I masturbate nearly once everyday. It's been a long term crutch for me and I unfortunately exposed myself to porn at a very early age. In the end it just takes the will power to say no and to train our brain's pleasure centers that instant gratification and selfishness can be overcome with will-power.
Welcome to the site. Thank you for sharing. It takes a lot of courage to share in this area. It looks like you're off to a great start. What are some of things you've tried to overcome the struggle? What has been your experience working the 12 steps? I have found no way out of the struggle apart from God's power. If I could do it myself I woudn't need recovery or sites like this one. At first, the first 7 years into recovery, I relied heavily on the 12 steps and had some success but when I started fasting, praying, going to church, listening to praise and worship music, reading the scriptures, etc. I started having amazing victory. Sharting_pumpkins might have some suggestions how to defeat this with human will-power but my will-power although strong in many other areas was and is incredibly weak when it comes to lust. For me, I have to have God's help. I hope this site meets your needs in some way or another. God speed!
