yes I have heard that too, many times, it did seem that the alcohol and drugs just naturally stopped - once I started the SA program. But the mind is still full of imagery from my decades of lust filled acting out. So there is no getting away from it. Over 9 months sober, and still have morning battles with my mind over imagery, and I am laying there listening to Christian music on klove to help me out of that state of mind some times takes an hour. I have to go to meetings almost everyday to stay focused and centered and mindful of the addict in me.
Keep coming back and keep writing it helps.

I’ve ignored the SA ZOOM meetings for too long.. time to make more effort

I struggled with drinking as well but I learned to control & that I don’t need to have a drink or 2 EVERYDAY. So now I’ve been able to get away from drinking all the time, but I’ve had a problem with overcoming my porn addiction. Just when I feel like I’m in control I give in & then feel like an idiot that I gave i to it. I don’t want to lose my family & I want to beat this & show my family the love & dedicate all the extra time I have to them. My wife has given me so many chances & it’s not fair to her because of how much this has hurt her & I don’t want to get to that point with our daughter. She’s only a year old & I don’t want to continue these bad habits as she grows up. I don’t want to miss a minute of her growing up & I do t want to lose my wife.

That's what's also helped me... I managed to stop a devastating cocaine addiction (multiple rehabs), with a wife and 2 small children at home.. I also realize i skipped over to SUGAR/FOOD and PORN. The porn has been the WORST i can ever recall.... I don't seem to be able to get 3 days away from this thing. I'm sick of it, I hate it (also obviously like it a lot also..), I want to stop. I hope we both find WAYS... Meetings helped with drugs/alcohol, I just joined a few SAA and SLAA meetings. I have always had ZERO interest in religion/God, so similar to the drugs I'll get back to ACTION; connecting with others. Wish you success, keep in touch. Yes. Definitely best of luck. Maybe just connecting with at least one person a day can help u get away from it & just hearing to what someone else has to say & see what someone else is going through can help get your mind off of it as well. We have a common goal & that to live our lives without negativity & just being happy with the ones you love, your wife, your kids. The more I write the more I feel that I can lose if I continue down this path of addiction. I heard myself actually say that I have an addiction & it made me feel shameful. With all that I have in my life & all that I have to be grateful for. It really got to me. Keep in touch. Best regards.
