Sex / Pornography Addiction Support Group
Sexual addiction, also sometimes called sexual compulsion, is a form of psychological addiction to sexual intercourse and other sexual behavior.
This past Sunday September 4th 2016, I celebrated...quietly, four years free from the disease of porn addiction. I don't post here much anymore but in the early years of my recovery I was quite active here. The support I received back then was more valuable than gold. A few things I've learned in four years. One is that I can be free from addictive behaviors and thoughts. The thought part was and at times is the hardest part of my new life. Two, Recovery is meant to be a life-chhanging event. I've have been transformed from a socially, isolated person into an active partner in life. If you aren't enjoying the freedom from the slave of porn than you need to rexamine your recovery..it is meant to be enjoyed. Three, recovery is beautiful! I am no longer lead about my obsessive sexual desires, I control it now. Four, porn can pop up anywhere at anytime. I have been online looking for something for school and porn will pop up, that will not change. BUT! I now react to it differently, if and when porn pops up I immediately block that content and remove myself from the screen and leave the room. Five, porn has no power over me. I have no desire whatsoever to look at any image of nude and semi-nude people. I am repulsed by the very thought of looking at porn. Six, I can have a healthy sex-life. My wife and I enjoy intimacy on a much higher level. One of the tools that helped me more than anything is my faith in God. Being active and in the present moment by using gospel principles has healed me and molded me into a better man, husband, father, grandfather and son of God. I hope this helps those who are still struggling. My message of hope is that the amount of effort you put into recovery will determine the length and quality of it. YOU CAN RECOVER!!! I wasn't a full time porn viewer, but my recovery is full time! May you find the peace, joy and beauty of freedom from the disease of addiction.
