This is my first time posting here, or anywhere. I'm married to the most beautiful woman on Earth and I love her with all of my heart but I've been lying to her almost our entire relationship. She's had trauma in her past that made her really struggle to trust people and at the start of our relationship, she was uncomfortable about me watching porn so I promised her I would stop. She never asked me to, I volunteered to stop. All she wanted was for me to tell her if I did. We had 2 major fights in our relationship before this and they were both about porn. I wouldn't tell her if I watched it until she asked me directly and then I would confess. After the second fight, I thought she would definitely break up with me if I told her so I started doing the worst thing possible in this scenario: lying. I lied to her face every time she asked me. This woman is an angel and I lied to her for years. Last night, I confessed all of it. I told her about what I watched, how often I watched it, everything. I hate it, and I hate myself but I legitimately feel like I can't stop. I don't know what steps to take, it feels like it should be so simple, just stop doing it, but I can't. My wife said she would stay with me but I need to address this, and I will do anything it takes. She's worried that I'll be too traumatized by the conversation we had last night to watch porn for a few weeks but once things start dying down that I'll immediately slip up and go back to my old ways, and honestly, I'm worried about that too. I really need help making sure this doesn't happen. Does anyone have any suggestions that have worked for them?
