I understand we all got hooked on porn at different ages and with different transitions, but we all end up at the same place... this website. I think porn industry should do more to prohibit of porn to minors. That disclaimer enter if 18 otherwise leave doesn't do shit. Kids are watching this stuff and grow up into awkward adults. I think I am pretty much done with porn. It started with pictures, clips, full-time videos, and contacting doms to set up sessions. The latter part is what I'm most shamed of. It was like a whole new level above porn. I think when you're at that level you'll either continue until your bank account is dry or you get help. There's not really a lot of help out there compared to alcohols, drug users some people might think sex/porn addiction is a joke. It's not.

From everything I've read on the subject, you are right -- the majority of minors have seen porn well before the age of 18. While I don't think most porn-makers have any desire to stop minors from looking at their stuff, even if they did, they'd be facing an uphill battle. But the fact is, they are like drug dealers, and the sooner they can get you hooked, the better for them. For this to be addressed, parents are going to have to step it up and stop giving their kids unfettered, unsupervised access to the Internet.

And you're also right that many in the psychological community dismiss porn addiction and sometimes sex addiction as well, which is just bizarre to me. The only thing I can come up with is that they've spent so many years trying to help people not feel bad about sexually immoral behavior that for them to now acknowledge that such behavior is actually bad for people would be to admit that they've been wrong. However, I have spoken to some in the field who say that such addictions are gradually gaining recognition.

That pornhelp.org site that someone else has been plugging isn't a bad place to look for resources if you need additional help with this. They aren't actually selling anything as far as I can see -- just pointing visitors to the various resources that are out there.
