So, I just finished a porn session and have AMAZING guilt. I have been consuming porn nearly my entire life (since age 5 until now 43). In the early years it wasn't a problem (addictively speaking) because of the lack of availibility. But since 2000, when I got my first PC, and steadily and rapidly increasing, the availibility has overwhelmed me. Today, there is no such thing as taboo inside my private mind, even though, outwardly, I know what is acceptable behavior vs what is not. I'm Christian and believe whole-heartedly that what I've been up to is wrong, but I've come to realise that I just cannot stop myself. Because my life is heavily dependent on internet access, and the fact that I am home alone most days of the week while family is out for "Daily Life" reasons, I have this constant temptation in front of me that will not go away until I have ... well, you know. Now, I've decided that I want to stop! Truly, but it's easier to say after I've already relieved myself for the day, and I am dreading what will happen tomorrow, or the next day, or the day after that, and beyond. Please. I can imagine many of you have had your Day 1 which brought you here. I need advice.

try a sex addiction group, it will help you kick this obsession and that is what you have. It's not who you really are I can assure you.

First try to tell your wife of your situation, that you want to stop and you would love her help and support.
Then have her put parental apps and blockers on your devices. Then find help. Church, therapy, 12 step. It’s hard. I have fallen more time then I can count. But if your family is worth it you will find a way.

Hi, if you haven't already, we would encourage you to find someone neutral to discuss your struggles with, whether it's a therapist, a faith leader, or a 12-step group (or all three). There are lots of different ways to tackle a porn use problem, but in our experience lasting recovery from problem porn use starts with making a human connection with someone who understands what you're going through and won't judge.

We echo other suggestions here, too, so long as you understand that (a) apps and software, alone, rarely do the trick on their own; and (b) the conversation with your spouse can result in emotional trauma for both of you if not handled with care, so if you have doubts about being able to pull it off, speaking with someone neutral first might help.
