I have had this issue for several years. I frequent craigs list, looking at the m4m postings. I create a dummy email acount to my wife won't find out, and reply. I have been hooking up with some guys. when I started, I liked it, but now I don't enjoy it, but can't seem to stop. I'll delete my email account, but always start over. As I'm replying to an ad, I'll realize this is not good, but just plow on. I really want to quit, but just can't seem to do it. I should mention, I am an alcoholic, but haven't had a drink in well over 30 years.

Since you said that you are an alcoholic, but that you have been sober, did you go through a recovery program like AA? If so, you may want to get into another 12 step program that is for sex addicts. There you will get the support you need in order to get sober from this addiction. I hope you get help for this. I'm sure there are others in recovery here who will have some good advice for you.

Hello, I would agree to get into a 12 step support group. I found one and it has helped me tremendously. And I used to do exactly what you are doing but with women. I hope you reach out to one of self-help groups. God Bless.

I did not go through a 12 step, I was able to quit on my own. I'm hoping to do the same, I really don't want to reveal this to my family.

Truthfully, at the level of addiction you are currently at right now, quitting on your own isn't totally realistic.
Also, keeping it a secret powers the addiction. Didn't your family know you were an alcoholic? Give people a chance to help you through this. Allow the truth to let you heal. Having this a secret for the rest of your life will only propel the shame.
Please, for your own sake, get help. Go to a therapist, but do something if you really want to stop.

One more thing. You do not mention if you are married. If you have been having unprotected sex with other men, your wife needs to know. She SHOULD be tested for diseases as well as yourself.
