Sorry to hear that you have gone through at such a young age. Sometimes addictions can take a toll on our lives without realising it. I have been struggling with pornography for the past six years. I am 21 now. I have recently been doing this thing called Fortify to help me with my porn addiction and its been great so far. Only one relapse in the last couple of months. Here is the link: http://www.fortifyprogram.org
I hope it helps and I hope you get better.
anonymous, you have a lot on your plate that is very difficult to deal with. With all those struggles, it must seem that sometimes it's easier to just get high.. get some pleasure.. but then.. after the few moments. there is reality again.
I'm sorry you 'first love' was abusive to you.
Beating the addiction and overcoming these deep problems will probably come together,, since the key to beating the addiction is finding better things to do, which is also helpful in overcoming the problems.
Are you in any kind of helpful treatment?
I think you've made a good first Step in coming out of isolation by posting here. Welcome to the group.
It is sad to here that you have gone through so much. It also give me hope that there are such strong people out there that are fighting so hard to overcome. Something that has helped me a lot with my attempts to overcome my addiction to porn is understanding the science and chemical part to it. http://yourbrainonporn.com/your-brain-on-porn-series I hope this helps a little bit. As for myself, One day at a time. I vow to make it for one day today in honor of you. You and your story have helped me be a little bit stronger and I thank you for that. I will post back here tomorrow and let you know how I did...
failureteaches: The Fortify Program looks great; I've yet to find a website like that dedicated to helping porn addicts - thanks for the share!
xa1nbowxR: I've gone through 2 years of therapy for psychological problems - that's helped me better deal with things today and educated me on my other illnesses. Right now I'm going through trial and error of finding the right medicine.
BlackCat11: I'll be sure to check that website out - I love neuroscience so I'm sure I'll find it interesting! Thanks!
2earlyriser: Sorry to hear of your troubles, it seems you're in a better place now though! I may look into the 12 step program; I read that xa1nbowxR has one open.
Thank you all so much for your kind words; you've brightened my day, given me strength, and have sure made me feel welcome :)
If any you need anything feel free to message me. I can also give good advice on exercise; August will make 4 years of hitting the gym :) (I had to get rid of those bullies somehow lol)
The basic 12 Steps, as originally laid out by Alcoholics Anonymous, with the concepts used as 'recovery tools', have the best track record and success rate of all the various methods over the years. A person can find a good group locally, but if there are none can get an appropriate book, and now find resources online, to start working the Steps and using the concepts on their own. I used to go to a lot of meetings, some groups are better than others, and after a couple of years I didn't go so often but I always work the Steps,, day in and day out, and use the concepts, more now Steps 10, 11 and 12,, but still even 1,2 and 3.
