Hi Folks,


For me it became as much about the adrenaline rush from the "hunt" as anything else.  I've been spending hours, sometimes all night, driving around just making eye contact with street walkers, for example.  I just got sick of it last week.


I don't know if this will work for the long run, but it's been amazing for the last 8 days, and I'm hopeful.  The new approach has been to target the PRELIMINARY behaviors (surfing around, driving aimlessly, walking the sidewalks, flipping the cable channels, etc) with a vengeance!  I told me accountability partner that I am donated $1 for every minute that I'm doing that stuff, and I'm accountable daily.  The funds go to the local fire dept. 


In the moment, I may not have the will power to follow through.  But I KNOW that the following day when I'm in my right mind I WILL follow through with the financial penalty.  I do respect that PERSON bc I know he has always followed through.  lol.  Blessings in your fight today friends!

I like your down-to-the-minute accountability plan. I think I will adopt it myself - I can see how it would both help with 'preventative' behavior, as well as help quantify and put some tangible numbers around behavior that probably make it easier to have meaningful discussions with your accountability partner. I can see how that would be helpful for me, anyway.

Any tips as far as how you keep track? What works for you?

pseudonym: last night I wanted to drive down to the city and drive around girl watching, but (for real) the thought of every minute costing a dollar really kept me from doing it. Your question about keeping track: I estimate. The next day when I'm in my "right mind" I realize that if I don't consistently follow through (like a parent!) then I won't take myself seriously next time. I tried to be sneaky the other day and look at cartoon porn, but I followed through and reset my day count to zero. no tolerance. I have to be tough on myself. It has made a difference.
