My husband was arested in March of 2016 for solicitation of a minor online and 1 charge of child pornography. He has been through the legal process and was given 8 years deferred adjudication and a lifetime of registery. I want to know how long it takes for things to get easier. Everyone says it won't always be this bad. He went from a 90,000.00 a year job to nothing and we can't go on like this. He is very educated and has had several job interviews and as soon as they get to the point of a background check he never hears from them again. I will NEVER justify what he did, but this was a good man who did a bad thing. I don't want it to define him forever. Please tell me when it will get easier.
We are about four years out here and I would say not yet. I mean we are better like we don't have court and legal stuff hanging over us. We don't have a probation officer coming in whenever he would like sifting through our belongings.
My husband still won't get a job though and that is weighing on our marriage. At this point it isn't even the crime it is the not working. If you have this type of crime you may need to do a job you don't want. KWIM?
We really have no friends that we get together with. I can't talk about him to co workers as I work in a field that may not tolerate him at all. We have to schedule friends coming over for the kids so he can leave. Oh and some people still call DHS on us when they see something they don't like. They exit sooner with no findings, but the stress of the interviews and missed work throws us for a loop each time. So honestly I don't like living like this and four years out has its own struggles. I want to leave you feeling better than when you came, but I think I need support myself.
The things that are better are the fact that I am going to school myself. I have found that I am a pretty decent learner. I work and I have found that I can support myself and my kids. This is really hard and every day feels like I am fighting up hill, but one day I am going to make it.
I understand what you mean! My fiancé made a stupid decision. He's not a bad guy. He didn't rape anyone or coerce anyone or force himself on her. She lied to him and he believed her. Now his life is ruined. He lost his job as a result. Luckily, he found one through a temp service and there's high hopes they will hire him as a permanent employee...his boss even told him that he doesn't care what happened in his past, as long as he shows up for work and works hard and tells him if he's going to be late due to a meeting or court date or whatever. He was still out of a job for about 4 months though. We have a few select people (other than family) who know and we can talk to about it but it's very few. It's so hard to keep things in when you need to talk about them. Feel free to message me anytime you'd like to talk. I may not respond right away if I'm not online but I will respond :) I don't know when it gets easier. He has 3 years probation and we are only about 6 months in...but I just keep telling him that as much as it sucks, do everything by the book. We are super careful as to where we go and what we say to make sure that he doesn't violate any laws or probation terms. Your husband has to just keep trying to find a job, as not having an income will cause double the amount of stress.
